Creating opportunity, overcoming adversity, building resilience and deploying excellence.
At Pearson Engineering, we are proud to be recognised around the world and in the UK for our contribution to armoured vehicle programmes. We take seriously our commitment to not only developing the world’s best engineering capability, but also our responsibility to help our end-users to overcome adversity through the deployment of our products and the delivery of our manufacturing services.
We build on our approach to creating opportunity, overcoming adversity, building resilience and deploying engineering excellence to deliver a ‘People Advantage’ in our communities.
Our Social Value Strategy
Based in the North East of England, we are proud to support the region in a number of ways through the five pillars of our social value strategy.
1. Championing the North East
We have a proud heritage of engineering at Armstrong Works and we aim to attract and retain talent in the North East by working with local partners to drive economic growth, investment and innovation across the region.
2. Developing the next-generation of skills for critical industries
With our world-renowned engineering capability, we strive to support future generations of people in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths (STEAM) by sharing our knowledge and breaking down barriers.
3. Promoting opportunities for veterans, service-leavers and disadvantaged communities
We are committed to supporting the defence community both in active duty and at home. We work with a number of charities and organisations that provide support to disadvantaged service personnel, military veterans and their families.
4. Nurturing our employees
People are at the heart of what we do. We are honoured to hold the Gold award for the Employer Recognition Scheme and are proud to welcome early career and experienced professionals from wide ranging backgrounds. Having earned silver for the Better Health at Work award, and with a new initiative to reach gold.
5. Protecting our planet
The environment remains one of our main priorities and we are committed to reducing the negative climatic effects of manufacturing. Alongside this, we have developed STEM/STEAM activities with an environmental focus and launched an internal Environmental Action Group.
Our Work
The Defence Community
We are committed to supporting the defence community and link our activities to our company values. With a focus on people, we work with charities and other organisations which provide support to disadvantaged service personnel, military veterans and their families. We believe in creating possibilities, not limits. We take special pride in supporting our Armed Forces in their personal and team endeavours. Team work, hard work and integrity is important to us and so we are proud supporters of a number of Armed Forces sporting teams including the Royal Engineers Field Gun Team.
Armed Forces Covenant
We are honoured to hold the Gold Award for the Armed Forces Covenant. No members of the Armed Forces Community should face a disadvantage. In recognition of their services, Pearson Engineering is proud to have pledged our support by signing the Armed Forces Covenant, supporting the community through fundraising activities, skills sharing and opportunities.
STEM Ambassadors
We are proud of the world-renowned engineering capability in the North-East and are driven to inspire a new generation of engineers. We are active supporters of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) initiatives. As STEM Ambassadors, our team dedicates time to sharing their own stories to raise the aspirations of people within our community and to create opportunities.
