Pearson Engineering Sponsors First All-Female British Army rowing team in gruelling Atlantic Challenge
Pearson Engineering is delighted to announce its sponsorship of Force Atlantic, a team of British Army personnel embarking on a tough Atlantic Rowing Challenge in December 2024.
This iconic event, renowned as the world’s toughest row, involves crossing the North Atlantic Ocean in a small rowing boat over a distance of approximately 3,000 miles. The Atlantic Row Challenge is a gruelling effort, demanding exceptional physical and mental strength. Competitors must row over 1.5 million strokes and compete with waves reaching heights of 20 feet. The team’s primary objective is to complete the race in the shortest possible time.
For the first time in its history, Force Atlantic is comprised entirely of female military personnel. This ground breaking endeavour underscores the Army’s commitment to providing equal opportunities for all personnel, regardless of gender, social class, or athletic ability.
Force Atlantic has prior experience in the Atlantic Challenge, having successfully completed the event in 2019 with a time of 37 days, 13 hours, and 53 minutes. They secured ninth place out of 35 teams and earned the record of ‘youngest male in a team of four’.
Pearson Engineering is committed to supporting the defence community and promoting diversity in teams. When the opportunity arose to support the first all-female army rowing team, we were eager to be involved. The strength, dedication, and teamwork of the all-female team will put Force Atlantic in a strong position to complete this gruelling challenge and we look forward to following their journey.
